Farewell to Khadri Shamanna, it happened only in SK

Khadri Shamanna, SV Jayasheela Rao and K Janardhana left Prajavani to join Samyukta Karnataka as Editor-in-Chief, Joint Editor and Resident Editor (Hubli) respectively, when politician MY Ghorpade bought the newspaper group from the sole trustee of Loka Shikshana Trust RR Diwakar. The political equations changed and MY Ghorpade who was a powerful minister, an industrialist (Sandore Manganese and Iron Ores) and a Royal Clan of the erstwhile Sandore Kingdom decided to sell the newspaper to a liquor baron, congress MP HR Basavaraj. In the meantime Kannada Prabha editor KS Ramakrishna Murthy dies and the Indian Express group started hunting for the editorial talent from outside. Khadri Shamanna's socialsit links with George Fernandes and Ramakrishna Hegde helps him in taking up the post at Kannada Prabha. For the record purpose Kannada Prabha gained circulation as well lost its reputation as a hand bill of Janata Party / Janata Dal during Khadri Shamanna's tenure.

Prajavani never printed a line about Khadri Shamanna, when he left for Samyukta Karnataka. But Khadri Shamanna's close associates SV Jayasheela Rao and HR Nagesha Rao (then News Editor) at Samyukta Karnataka decides to bid farewell to him in the newspaper's front page.
