Its pleasure to receive pats on one's student writings!

The great kannada writer G.P. Rajaratnam was teaching Kannada at the Intermediate College, Tumkur. HRN happened to be his student in the year 1943-44 and 1944-45. Rajaratnam had a passion to get the best out of his students, and his service period in any institution was considered as golden days. During his student days HRN used to write essays, book-reviews, articles on Indian Independence etc. under the name 'ಹಾ.ರಂ.ನಾಗೇಶರಾವ್'. At the end of the academic year, GPR used to get all winning writings of his students published in a book. In one such book 'ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮವರು' published by the Central College, several articles of HRN were included. Here goes the letter received by HRN.

Dear Sir,

Permit me to express my appreciation of a number of essays written by you and published in "Namma Nammavaru" (ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮವರು). Your short essay on "ಪಂಡಿತಾಃ ಸಮದರ್ಶಿನಃ" is very good and I have read it seven or eight times. It is written in a very terse style and it is marvellous that you could have written it when you were a student in the Intermediate Class. Your imaginary interview with Mahatma Gandhi is inspiring. May I know if you have published any other works? I should like to go through them and I am sure I shall not only enjoy them but will be benefitted by
them.

I am indebted to Sri G.P. Rajaratnam who on enquiry by me informed me that you are working in the Tayi Nadu Office.

Wishing you every success in life,

I remain,
Yours sincerely,
